Naturopathy is non-invasive, whole person health care that utilizes natural remedies to support the return of balance or homeostasis. It is essential for a health care provider to not only look at each person as a unique individual, but also to be able to consider the entirety of the person. Naturopathic Consultation involves assessment that can include full health evaluation to address overall health and wellness, as well as addressing acute and chronic health issues.

A Holistic Doula has the unique ability to offer something beyond the traditional role of labour companion. Along with a strong trust in the innate wisdom of a woman’s body and a deep respect for the birthing experience, she has an extraordinary education in the healing arts and an understanding of evidence-based birth practices. As a Holistic Doula, Carey has extensive Naturopathic training in pregnancy specific Nutrition, Herbs, Homeopathic remedies, Essential oils and Flower Essences that address the specific needs and concerns of every stage of pregnancy through postpartum and newborn care. Holistic Doulas are trained to support, guide and advocate for each woman; understanding her individual story and meeting her unique needs, throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery and the 4th trimester of postpartum, as well as the special needs of newborn care.

Doula Services include pregnancy wellness visits, labour & birth support and postpartum visits for mother and baby. Services are offered in basic and customized packages.

A Fertility Specialist has additional, specialized training with respect to the specifics of both female and male fertility. An understanding of the normal functions of the physical and biological processes of fertility, including menstrual charting, cycle specific issues like PMS, amenorrhea & menorrhea. A knowledge of what the signs of a potential acute or chronic concern could be and how to support health and healing with respect to specific concerns. A unique ability to guide women and couples create strong foundations for healthy bodies, healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.

Carey has both lactation training and many years of experience. She is able to offer education and support for both mamas new to breastfeeding and mamas with experience, that are struggling. Carey is also unique in being able to offer guidance to mamas that didn’t give birth, but would like to be able to breastfeed their baby, as well as mamas wanting to relactate after a necessary or chosen pause in breastfeeding . The natural induction of lactation is possible and should be guided with the experience and understanding of the individual woman and baby.

Dr. Carey is Upledger Institute trained in CranioSacral Therapy, which is a light-healing touch that can dramatically improve overall wellness, facilitating self-correction and thus the healing of many conditions. CST is not massage, but does involve gentle, hands-on techniques to locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion and the release of restrictions. This in turn frees the Central Nervous System, allowing for a natural reduction in pain and stress, strengthening the body’s resistance to stress and enhancing overall health and well being. Sessions can be integrated into other therapies, used in short-sessions for time constraints or specific needs and concerns found during a Naturopathic appointment, scheduled as full hour + sessions to address both acute and chronic conditions, including those related to Fertility and Pregnancy. Clients remain fully clothed while laying on a comfortable therapy table. It can be very relaxing and it is not uncommon for clients to drift off to sleep.
